Process Matters is a report by Columbia Justice Lab that highlights the process of one’s county’s efforts to reform its youth justice system as a model for other jurisdictions. The design reflects the forward-looking, process-driven vision for meaningful change.  

The report shares and reflects on Harris County, Texas’ journey to redirect resources away from the youth justice system and into its most impacted communities, offering a new path for reducing incarceration, promoting racial and ethnic equity in youth justice, namely community investment, and centering youth justice around the fundamental values of collaboration, community partnership, and equity. I was hired by Columbia to develop the visual identity and design this report, which reflects the report’s emphasis on process-oriented systemic transformation, and the many turns that such a process with numerous stakeholders, both inside government and in the community, can take in the effort to forge a new collective vision for youth justice.
